Force Majeure

Ukrainian patriots take heart, the Kremlin has recognized Ukraine as a superior force, literally.

“On Wednesday, Gazprom’s deputy chief executive, Aleksandr I. Medvedev, said the company had informed European customers that it had declared force majeure on its European gas exports through Ukraine.”
Ok, maybe we oversold that just a bit. However, in addition to being elevated to the legal status of a war, volcano or hand of Zeus, Ukraine’s new-found fame as an Act of God will allow Gazprom to skip out the penalties associated with breaking delivery contracts.

Baby steps Ukraine, baby steps.
