Pimpin' ain't easy

The Sofia Weekly (my fav weekly) reported over the weekend that Norway is banning paying for prostitution because of a European prostitution ring run from Brussels, Belgium. It seems said prostitution ring is very successful, and sends a number of prostitutes to various cities throughout Europe, including Oslo, Norway. However, since the pimps are not based in these cities, the whores are not able to get into brothels, but must walk the streets, sparking a public reaction in Oslo. And so, as of January 1, any Norwegian citizen caught paying for a prostitute at home or abroad, will face a large fine or a six-month stay in prison.

And who are the pimps that caused all the trouble? Well, they are gentlemen from Sliven, Bulgaria. Just fantastic.

I will say, I do not condone prostitution or pimping; however, this ring is based out of Brussels. And, Benelux countries do indeed make it extremely difficult for our Bulagarian friends to work legally in their countries. Just saying. It's hard out there for a pimp.

Also not surprisingly, I could not find a not offensive picture for this post.

Whore? Excuse me, these are sex workers.

Whore is such a value judgement.

Excuse me: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/whore

Yeah, a woman or man who engages in sexual acts for money; prostitute. Not a value judgement. An accurate description.

Interesting, travel benefits to prostitution, really puts more "legit" professions into perspective

(in order to obviate the need for my objectivity to be questioned, legit here I use in the sense of legality)

Travel Benefits, but no lodging. I gotta say, Oslo is lovely, but also cold, and if I were a Bulgarian prostitute stationed in Brussels, I'd be upset if I got sent to Oslo with no place to stay. On the other hand, maybe it's an excellent opportunity to show innovation and good business sense...could mean a promotion. All I'm saying.
