Cold War Fash Back

This civil defense poster from 1985 was designed to guide the good citizens of Portland, Oregon through their first nuclear war.

Where the hell was this poster when I needed it? The exact same steps could have come in handy during an average night out in Moscow, c. 1998. Comfort the dying, isolate the corpses. Check and double check.

Thanks makezine.

Nice touch, btw. Notice the baby on the pile of bodies.

My god.

"Bob, you're doing it wrong. The poster clearly says that children go on top."

How can you cover your eyes AND brace yourself in the door way? Not to mention mushroom clouds are like eclipses. Sure I'm not supposed to look directly at them, but how many times are you going to be alive for one?

"Place newspaper on head" seems to be the most useful one of these instructions. Too bad we don't have any broadsheet papers in Sweden any more, I'm sure a tabloid only gives half the protection.

No wonder the title of the post refers to "Fash Back"
