AP reports: "Moldova's army is feeding its soldiers onions and garlic to help them ward off swine flu."
Seeing that we couldn't get an H1N1 shot either, we have to applaud Moldova's ingenuity. Even my grandmother would approve, since garlic will ward off the both the flu and rabid fans of "New Moon."
Meanwhile, "Russia's top health official has proposed that the country's fashion designers create trendy face masks to combat swine flu." Unfortunetly, ripped t-shirts don't count.

I don't see what's to make fun of. Onions, garlic, etc, *are* better than nothing at preventing infection.
SO is from Transylvannia I take it.
My grandmother would agree. She used to swear that garlic saved her from the Spanish flu.
And garlic has been proven to have anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-vampire properties.
SO -- and frequent hand-washing with soap and not picking one's nose is better than onions and garlic.
One can do both.
I watched some fellow shamelessly "digging for gold" on a packed metro car yesterday.
He was going after it like the antidote was in there.
this is a great strategy, if you can make that your soldiers don't suffer this type of diaseases, you know if you want to win a war, you need real iron soldiers.
One can do both.
