A couple days ago I posted the case of Kazakh Human Rigts Activist Yevgeniy Zhovtis. Today, he was found guilty of manslaughter, immediately arrested, and is to serve a four year sentence. Several procedural violations were made during this trial. Zhovtis was lied to several times by authorities, and generally his rights were ignored. Essentially, authorities took a most unfortunate accident and manipulated information in order to imprison this well-known, outspoken activist. You can find information about the case from several human rights organizations. Concerned individuals should send letters to local Kazakh embassies.
The floor of the Moscow Metro with a sweet candy coating. It's irreverent, cogent, and produced by contributers who are Eurasian area specialists. Just because the Kremlin denied it does not make us wrong.
